About New Milford, NJ Real Estate Market

Located in the central part of Bergen County in New Jersey state, the borough of New Milford covers an area of 2.32 square miles and is home to around 17,000 people. Deriving its name from the town of Milford in Pennsylvania, the borough of New Milford was formed in 1922 from the portions of Palisades Township after the results of a referendum came out in the same year. As soon as the borough of New Milford was created, Palisades Township got dissolved.

The borough of New Milford is surrounded by other boroughs of Bergen County, like Oradell, Bergenfield, Dumont, Teaneck and River Edge. It also houses a part of New Bridge Landing, along with Teaneck and River Edge.

New Milford suffered from the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene, which caused the flooding of Hackensack River up to 11.84 feet. Due to the rising conditions of flooding, many homes in New Milford besides the river were evacuated with immediate effect. You can find several homes for sale on the main roads of this New Jersey town, which include Madison Avenue, River Road, Boulevard and Milford Avenue. One of such New Jersey houses is the Demarest-Bloomer house, which got included in the National Register of Historic Places.
